Dear Sunnycrest Roadrunners and Families,
Greetings Sunnycrest Families!
Happy New Year,
Our resolution for 2021 is to increase our focus on making sure scholars are reading on grade level. This means that we will be changing our master schedule to include more time for reading instruction dedicated to your child’s ability to read independently. In addition, we will be using our paraeducators to provide extra support to classroom teachers during this teaching block. To make these changes possible, our specialists times have shifted, each specialist will begin 10 minutes later than previously scheduled. These changes will begin on Jan. 19th, 2021.
As always, parents are critical partners in this work. We will be sending home flashcards and IRLA/ENIL skills cards, through our School-to-You bus. I will be providing you with information about grade level skills that you can practice together at home in my weekly principal’s message to families.
We also want to share with you an exciting new course titled “Sunnycrest Assemblies, Small Groups, and Clubs” on your child’s Canvas dashboard. This course will provide you and your child access to their small groups, as well as clubs, the Wednesday Wake-Up Assembly and Friday Spirit Assembly. Parents can access our Family Zoom meetings through this course as well. This new course ensures that all scholars have access to enrichment opportunities and social connections.
You may have come to this page today looking for information about how and when schools will reopen. Our district website is the best source of up-to-date information about the plans for bringing our scholars back to school safely. In addition, please be sure to read our Superintendent, Dr. Tammy Campbell’s, weekly email to families. You can also find this message here: https://www.fwps.org/domain/821
