Evergreen MS IGNITE Visits F5 Tower in Seattle
Evergreen MS scholars FieldTrip to F5_IGNITE Worldwide

On Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, scholars from Evergreen Middle School embarked on an exciting STEM career exploration field trip to the F5 Tower in Downtown Seattle. This event was part of DiscoverU week, designed to inspire students about careers in technology while connecting them with a dedicated team of F5 volunteers.

The trip was organized by Inspiring Girls Now in Technology Evolution (IGNITE), alongside Evergreen school counselor Gil Simmons and team.

During their visit, students enjoyed a guided tour of the F5 Tower, explored the humming server rooms, and even had the opportunity to sit at the boardroom table, all while taking in breathtaking views from the 48th floor.

The experience was further enriched by a panel and Q&A session featuring STEM professionals. Scholars engaged in meaningful discussions about various career paths, received valuable advice, and asked insightful questions related to financial aid, choosing a major, utilizing AI, building confidence, coping with failure, and more.

After each IGNITE event, scholars fill out a survey about their recent experience. Of the scholars who attended the F5 visit:

  • 100% of students are interested in STEM
  • 71% of students know more about STEM career choices and the benefits of working in a STEM field.

  • 75% of students gained perspective and feel more hopeful about the future.
