Aya Bispham, FWHS Senior, Named CenturyLink Athlete of the Week

Aya Bispham of Federal Way High School has been selected as CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. A senior at Federal Way High School, she was selected based on her dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, and athletic performance. Aya has maintained a 3.98 GPA while enrolled in the Cambridge program at her school.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation Announces Six Federal Way Students as Semifinalists

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of semifinalists in the 61st annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Among these semifinalists are six students from Federal Way Public Schools.

Lunch Room Recycling Program at Lake Grove is a Big Success

The first day of school started out with a new lunch room recycling program at Lake Grove Elementary.

Students and staff made lunch time fun and informative by implementing the new system for reducing waste. The students eagerly adopted the new routine and were able to cut their lunch room garbage by 50%.

TJHS Student, Kenneth Turner, Named WIAA Athlete of the Month

The WIAA Athlete of the Week is Kenneth Turner – running back for the Raider Football team.  He was instrumental in the victory over the Puyallup Vikings, scoring 32 of TJ’s 33 points. Kenneth had one blocked punt for a touchdown, one two-point conversion, four rushing touchdowns, and 189 yards on the ground.

Kenneth was also named Athlete of the MONTH, a new recognition by WIAA and will be honored for the month of October. A student athlete and a school leader, Kenneth actively volunteers in campus and community services projects.

Skills Inc. Aerospace Program Recognizes 2015-16 Cohort

Employment Transition Coordinator Sue Marcoe spoke at a fundraising event that supports the Skills Incorporated internship program. Since 2002, nearly 200 FWPS student have participated in the program. Skills Inc. employs people of ALL ABILITIES in aerospace manufacturing with a workforce comprised of individuals with and without disabilities working side-by-side.
