Good News October 22
Congratulations to our Employment and Transition Program scholars on their completion of three new Ability Awareness videos that were created last spring through a partnership between KBTC television and Federal Way Public Schools. The new videos are the latest in a series of nine videos featuring ETP scholars.
The Ability Awareness project is a partnership between KBTC and the Federal Way Public Schools Special Education and Employment Transition Program to support neuro-divergent youth and youth with disabilities in creating short-form videos that address life skills that all young people need for transitioning to the workplace and independent living.
The Washington State Patrol has completed its annual inspection of Federal Way Public Schools’ buses, and we’ve received outstanding results! This recognition is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our transportation team, who work tirelessly to ensure that every bus is safe and reliable for our scholars.
Our transportation staff plays a vital role in supporting our district’s strategic plan by upholding the highest standards of professional practices. Their commitment helps create a secure environment where our students can focus on learning from the moment they step on the bus.
We are excited to celebrate Kilo Middle School’s counselor, Jillian Hove, for being awarded the prestigious ASCA-Certified School Counselor (ACSC) designation!
Jillian is one of only 57 school counselors nationwide to receive this honor, reflecting her exceptional knowledge and commitment to developing impactful school counseling programs that guide our students toward success.
This designation demonstrates Jillian’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethical practice, and continuous growth in her field. Her efforts play a vital role in creating a supportive environment where every scholar can thrive academically and personally.
In Federal Way Public Schools, incorporating student voice is central to informing the work of serving each of our 21,000+ student-scholars. Students from the Scholar Advisory to the Superintendent team presented a recommendation and outlined the application and selection process for Scholar Representatives to the Board.
