Congratulations to our Federal Way High School’s ProStart scholars for earning the People's Choice award at the American Culinary Federation and Washington State Chef’s Association 2023 Bite of the Apprentice fundraiser. Scholars competed against 20 culinary teams as one of four high school programs among other experienced local culinary schools and restaurants. The competition called teams to present a two-bite appetizer for 200 people and our scholars’ winning dish was inspired by the partnership with the Native Education Program and in honor of Native American Heritage Month. Federal Way High School was voted for and received the People’s Choice award – the highest and most coveted award of the night. Congratulations to four of our Thomas Jefferson High School scholars for placing in the annual Math Fall Classic. The competition is designed to reward excellence in mathematics and consisted of schools from across the state competing with one another. Overall, Thomas Jefferson High School scholars had a very successful day at all levels with a total of thirteen top three placement awards and ten of them being first place! Mark Twain Elementary School recently celebrated an exciting achievement. In November, 161 scholars had perfect attendance! These scholars were in class, on time, every day, ready to learn. Attendance is celebrated weekly at Mark Twain Elementary during morning assemblies. The top class earns a stuffy bullfrog mascot classroom visit for the following week. At the end of the month, scholars are recognized alongside scholars with 95% or greater attendance for the month at their PBIS Award Assembly. Scholars are acknowledged and receive a certificate. |
