Employee Wellness Programs

Available to all employees:

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free and confidential counseling and referral service available to all employees and their families. To make an appointment or ask questions, please contact Health Venture at (253) 572-5552.
• Talkspace is a digital mental health service that connects members to thousands of dedicated providers from a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. With Talkspace therapy, you can send your therapist text, voice, or video messages - anytime, anywhere, including from the comfort and privacy of your home. Federal Way Public Schools employees and immediate household contacts ages 13+ have access to this service at no cost. This includes unlimited messaging, as well as the option to use two 30-minute live video sessions with your Talkspace therapist each month. To access: click "Get Started" at talkspace.com/FWPS, and enter "FWPS Staff" in the organization name field. Talkspace complies with HIPAA privacy law and your support is completely confidential and secure.

Available to SEBB benefit-eligible employees:

• SmartHealth is a voluntary wellness program included in your SEBB benefits at no cost to you. Eligible SEBB subscribers can qualify for a $125 wellness incentive by completing a well-being assessment along with joining and tracking activities to earn at least 2,000 points.
• Diabetes Prevention Programs are lifestyle-change programs to help reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes. All SEBB medical plans will cover the entire cost of the program.
• Living Tobacco Free helps you to quit using tobacco products. All SEBB medical plans offer programs to live tobacco-free.

Accidents and injuries that occur at work, during your work hours, must be reported immediately to your direct supervisor, your school building administrator (if applicable, and different from your direct supervisor), and the Puget Sound Workers' Compensation Trust.  Puget Sound Workers’ Compensation Trust is the third-party administrator who manages the district’s employee accident reports and work injury claims.

Whether you choose to seek medical treatment for an injury or not, you are required to call the Nurse Triage Line at 833-928-6877 to submit an accident report. Once your report is submitted, it will be sent to your supervisor for review and investigation of the incident or accident.

Evaluation Criteria

• Centering instruction on high expectations for student achievement.

Criteria Definitions

1. Expectations: The teacher communicates high expectations for student learning.
2. Instruction: The teacher uses research-based instructional practices to meet the needs of all students.
3. Differentiation: The teacher acquires and uses specific knowledge about students’ cultural, individual intellectual and social development and uses that knowledge to adjust their practice by employing strategies that advance student learning.
4. Content Knowledge: The teacher uses content area knowledge, learning standards, appropriate pedagogy and resources to design and deliver curricula and instruction to impact student learning.
5. Learning Environment: The teacher fosters and manages a safe and inclusive learning environment that takes into account: physical, emotional and intellectual well-being.
6. Assessment: The teacher uses multiple data elements (both formative and summative) to plan, inform and adjust instruction and evaluate student learning.
7. Families and Community: The teacher communicates and collaborates with students, families and all educational stakeholders in an ethical and professional manner to promote student learning.
8. Professional Practice: The teacher participates collaboratively in the educational community to improve instruction, advance the knowledge and practice of teaching as a profession, and ultimately impact student learning.
