The Greater Federal Way Chamber of Commerce hosted the State of Education event on Nov. 3, 2021. Superintendent Dr. Dani Pfeiffer shared how much we’ve accomplished despite of COVID, what’s to come, and thanked our community partners who’ve supported our scholars and schools. Some highlights include:

Our FWPS team and community rose to the occasion:

• Maintenance, operations and custodial staff worked nearly 40,000 hours to keep our schools safe and clean in response to COVID health and safety guidelines.
• Over 1 million meals served to scholars and families.
• We deployed over 14,000 computers and 1,205 hotspots.
• Our instructional staff collectively participated in more than 90,000 hours of professional development to provide the highest quality instruction— reinventing how they delivered instruction.
• Community partners’ contributions of food, supplies, and more to support staff, scholars, and families.

Even in a global pandemic, our scholars continued to achieve and graduate at high rates:

• Despite the challenges of COVID and adjusting to remote and then hybrid learning, our scholars showed perseverance and resilience—86% of our senior class graduated on time.
• In addition, 88% of our scholars from the Class of 2018 who enrolled in college persisted, remaining on track toward earning a college degree. When students leave FWPS they are well prepared for higher education.
