Evergreen Middle School

Construction Phase

Project overview

Evergreen Middle School (formerly Totem Middle School) serves sixth through eighth-grade students in a 55-year old building, with the lowest overall building condition rating in Federal Way Public Schools. The current building was constructed in 1963 and was ranked in the top 10 schools needing to be rebuilt by the Facilities Planning Committee.

Evergreen Middle School is being rebuilt alongside Star Lake Elementary, and the design currently being developed contains some shared spaces, allowing for more opportunities for deliberate collaboration these two schools.

  • Projected capacity: 800 middle school students

We’ve held nine community meetings about this project since May 2018, and we’ve heard from over 200 neighbors, staff, students and families about Evergreen (Totem) Middle School and Star Lake Elementary. Thank you to all who have shared your voice throughout this process. You provide a valuable perspective as we continue through the design process of these two schools.
