Because of You Awards: January 26, 2021

We would like to recognize Chris Leslie, band and orchestra director at Sequoyah Middle School.
He was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar shares Mr. Leslie sets high expectations with great rewards. Another scholar says Mr. Leslie believes in him, and band is the best thing he’s ever done. Another shares Mr. Leslie helps her feel safe and confident on Zoom. Another scholar shares she is not scared to fail and never gives up. Another says Mr. Leslie makes him feel happy and looks forward to coming to school. Because of you, these scholars say they feel determined to be successful!
We would like to recognize Natalie Sword, counselor at Brigadoon Elementary
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar shares Ms. Sword helped her learn how to handle her problems and make people happy. Another scholar says Ms. Sword is always so nice and puts a smile on her face every day. Because of you, these scholars say they always feel comfortable talking with Ms. Sword and feel equipped to solve their problems!
We would like to recognize Yvette Gregg, teacher at Illahee Middle School.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar says Ms. Gregg helped her discover humor and kindness during the pandemic. Another scholar says Ms. Gregg encouraged her to talk more, and she feels happy every day. Another shares Ms. Gregg is kind and helps her achieve her goals. Because of you, these scholars say they feel supported and encouraged to do their best, and class is fun!
We would like to recognize Janice Cockerham-Twigg, teacher at Federal Way Public Academy.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar shares Ms. Cockerham-Twigg makes online learning a blast, and she smiles and laughs more. Another scholar says Ms. Cockerham-Twigg helped her regain her love for English. Another says Ms. Cockerham-Twigg makes her feel happy every day and always makes class fun. Because of you, these scholars say they enjoy their English class!
We would like to recognize Teresa Eyler, teacher at Federal Way High School.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar says Ms. Eyler motivates her to do better in class and get her grades up. Another scholar states Ms. Eyler makes learning French fun, and she looks forward to showing up to class in the mornings. Because of you, these scholars say they are motivated to do their best in class and always have a smile on their faces!
We would like to recognize Cherie Blair, teacher at Star Lake Elementary School.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar says Ms. Blair pushes him out of his comfort zone, and he looks forward to coming to school in the morning. Another scholar shares Ms. Blair helped her learn to believe in herself. Another shares Ms. Blair is the best teacher ever. Another scholar says Ms. Blair helped her become determined to go to college. Because of you, these scholars say they’ve learned to believe in themselves!
We would like to recognize Jade Herron, teacher at TAF@Saghalie.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar shares Ms. Herron is a truly amazing person who helps her understand the course. Another scholar says Ms. Herron is nice and betters the community. Another says Ms. Herron is respectful and helps explain things when she is confused. Another scholar shares Ms. Herron makes school a more fun, safe, and happy environment. Because of you, these scholars say they are learning in new ways!
We would like to recognize Carrie Young, teacher at Illahee Middle School.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar shares she feels that Ms. Young cares for her like family. Another scholar says Ms. Young pushes the limits of her knowledge. Another says Ms. Young helped her find the positive in all situations and motivates her to do her best. Because of you, these scholars say they learned how to face their fears with pride!
We could like to recognize Amy Coats, teacher at Illahee Middle School.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar says Ms. Coats makes remote learning a fun experience that is a pleasure to participate in. Another says she flourished to her full potential and looks forward to every day she spends with Ms. Coats. Another scholar shares Ms. Coats is kind-spirited, forgiving, and supportive. Because of you, these scholars say they feel motivated to do their best, especially in the virtual setting!
We would like to recognize Lee Bay, teacher at Decatur High School.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar states Ms. Bay made a strong connection with him on the first day, and she taught him to push himself and try his best. Another scholar says Ms. Bay puts time into her lesson plans to make sure students understand. Because of you, these scholars say they feel motivated and that they can be successful in class!
We would like to recognize Michelle Dollinger, teacher at Sequoyah Middle School.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar shares Ms. Dollinger makes learning easy and enjoyable, and she sees her subjects in a different light. Another states Ms. Dollinger helps make Sequoyah a better place. Another scholar says Ms. Dollinger taught her how to be kind and compassionate. Because of you, these scholars say they believe they are better people!
We would like to recognize Mariya Klimok, teacher at Green Gables Elementary School.
She was nominated by a few scholars. One scholar says Ms. Klimok took time to get to know her and helps in any way she needs. Another scholar shared Ms. Klimok helped her become a better person and understand more about her subjects. Because of you, these scholars say they feel supported!
