    Welcome to Silver Lake Elementary!

I am honored to be leading Silver Lake this year. I am looking forward to an exciting year of growing and learning with our scholars and staff, along with parents, families, and community support.

I am entering my 16th year in education. I have served as an elementary classroom teacher and Instructional Coach in Kent School District. I joined Federal Way Public Schools three years ago. I supported all 23 Federal Way elementary schools with English Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum. For the 2018-2019 school year, I served as Assistant Principal at Green Gables Elementary.  In my introductory meetings with staff and families, I have heard that you love the Silver Lake community – staff, scholars, and families! I look forward to joining this amazing community dedicated to kids!

We have exciting and special news, Silver Lake has been selected to receive Community Eligibility Provision for our Café. This means that EVERY Silver Lake scholar has the option to eat breakfast and lunch at school for FREE every day!

We will be digging into Goal 2 and Goal 4 of our Strategic Plan this year as a staff. This means you will see a Goal 2 focus on establishing expectations and holding scholars accountable to them. As a part of this, we will begin every day with an all school morning assembly to get our day started off right. Before the assembly begins, scholars will have the opportunity to eat breakfast and then read. Make sure to send your scholar with a book each day!  We would love to have you join us for our morning assembly if your schedule allows!

To support our safe learning environment, we will continue with our three personal standards:

    • Make Good Decisions
    • Show RespectSolve
    • Problems We, scholars and staff, expect and strive to meet these each and every day!!

To support Goal 4, our academics, we will focus on teaching with our curriculum and adjusting to meet the needs of every individual scholar so that they may grow into thriving, confident individuals who are successful in school and life. In kindergarten through second grade, we will work to make every scholar a grade level reader by third grade. In third through fifth grade, our focus will be on being able to think critically about what we have read. All scholars will work to be able to think, talk, and write about math at grade level.

I am so excited to partner with you!  You will see monthly opportunities to meet with me, either in the morning or afternoon, beginning in September. I look forward to meeting with you!

Never hesitate to reach out to us in person, over the phone or by email.
