Digital Citizenship equips scholars with the skills to recognize the rights, responsibilities, and opportunities of living, learning, and working in an interconnected digital world, acting and modeling in ways that are safe, legal, and ethical. It is more imperative than ever that our scholars build agency to be safe on-line, and these resources can help you start the conversation at home.

Digital Citizenship supports the Federal Way Public Schools Strategic Plan by helping scholars build the knowledge, skills, and habits they need to be safe, responsible, and successful in school, in their communities, and online.

STOP - Avoid These Behaviors
- Using AI-Generated content verbatim without proper citation or presenting AI-Generated work as your own is unethical and plagiarism.
- Creating Assignments, essays, or projects without any personal input or understanding is considered academic dishonesty
- Using generative AI to complete tasks that are beyond your understanding and presenting the results as your own.
- Asking AI to source references and not checking the validity of the information and relevance.
- Using an AI Bot to complete work for you.
Proceed with Caution
- Verify AI-generated ideas for accuracy and relevance.
- Use AI to help find sources and check reliability and validity.
- Use AI outputs as a starting point, then revise and expand with your own thinking.
- Use AI only when allowed for the assignment.
GO - Responsible Use of AI
- Ask AI to act as a coach or tutor to help you learn and understand new ideas and concepts.
- Simplifying complex concepts, help with correct referencing and in-text citation advice.
- AI as tutor: Creating flashcards, revision activities, analytical tools, to help better understand and recall.
- Stimulating creative thinking and ideas as a starting point.
- Asking AI to provide instant feedback on work to improve quality before submission.
