    Hello Falcon Families,

The Lakota staff are beyond excited and ready to welcome our scholars to the 2021-2022 in person school year. Last year we collected input on our schoolwide values from staff, scholars, and families. We are launching this year with our updated schoolwide values. We believe these values will support our community to accept and celebrate our unique identifies and unite our community so that each scholar has a voice, a dream, and a bright future. Please join me in supporting our community to RISE; Responsible, Inclusive, Safe, and Empathetic.

Our school goals, derived from the Federal Way School District Strategic Plan, will guide our work at Lakota. We truly believe that when scholars have a strong sense of belonging, they are operating from an optimized state for learning, growing, and reflecting.

Goal 2: Whole Child: Thriving, Confident, Responsible Individuals

100% of our Lakota staff and scholars report that they belong and are connected to the content, to the school, and to each other (scholar to scholar, scholar to staff, staff to staff, home to school).

Goal 4: Content-Area Competence: Master of all Subjects

100% of our Lakota lessons are designed to prepare for and engage all scholars in grade level learning focused on rigorous tasks of high cognitive demand with high expectations and high supports.

Fall Re-Opening: Using guidance from OSPI and the Department of Health, we are planning for a safe return that prioritizes learning. In accordance with Governor Inslee and OSPI direction, we will be opening the year with full face to face instruction. Please stay tuned for more information to come in the coming weeks.

Health and Safety and Re-Opening: Our scholars’ health and safety are priority. As we prepare for our face to face fall re-opening, our district is hard at work developing health and safety protocols which include social distancing guidelines, arranging schedules that minimize high traffic contact, considering bus transportation and engaging in deep cleaning protocols to minimize the spread of germs. As part of ensuring a safe learning environment, all scholars and staff will be required to wear face masks. Please take the time this summer to both reinforce and practice the wearing of face masks. FWPS will continue to place health and safety as a priority as we look forward to welcoming our scholars back on September 1st. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

    In this together, we RISE!
