Welcome to Green Gables Elementary, home of the Geckos!

We are a school rich in culture and community, and we look forward to partnering with you to create and sustain a supportive, equitable learning environment that fosters the academic, personal and social growth of all our scholars.

Green Gables is a reading school.  We encourage and expect our scholars to read or be read to daily, fostering strong reading skills for academic success and a love of reading for pleasure.  We work hard to ensure that all our scholars receive quality reading and writing instruction to become competent readers and writers.  Math is another area of focus at Green Gables.  We teach scholars how to think critically and problem solve in math using the "try, discuss, connect" routine.  We are also working to master fluency skills, which are the building blocks to mathematical success.

At Green Gables, we work towards creating a school community and our school motto is "Growing Together, United We Thrive, Where We Belong".  This includes the teaching and modeling of our Gecko Behavior Expectations.

Scholars are consistently reinforced for following our school-wide expectations and making positive choices.  We strive to help students understand how making wise choices helps them to become good citizens and contribute in a positive way to our school community.

We encourage you to get involved at Green Gables!  There are many opportunities to become an active participant in our school community.  Most importantly, we want you to partner with us in the education of your children.  Stay informed about what your child is learning in school and how you can support their learning at home.  Look for communication from your child's teacher, and don't hesitate to ask questions.  Working together, we can insure success for all our scholars.
