Principal's Message

  • Matt Oberst Dear Eagle Families,

Scholar Led Conferences are November 6 in the evening, and November 7 and 8 all day. Please check to see what day and time your student will be presenting. The purpose of Scholar Led Conferences is for students to feel fully engaged and empowered to take an active role in their learning. Preparing for these conferences really started back in September, and as the semester has progressed, students have been collecting assignments and projects to show. In the end, we hope students will enjoy taking an active role in their learning. We are hoping for 100% attendance.

I would also like to thank parents for supporting the early release dates we have had so far. Teachers and staff utilized the time to improve student learning. Our teachers were working in their Professional Learning Communities or PLCs. These PLCs consist of teams of teachers that focus on improving student learning in their classrooms. Teachers examine students’ assignments, align curriculum, and create interventions based on students’ “real time” academic needs to be implemented into their lessons immediately. This “real time” assistance is a tremendous benefit for our students but does require time to examine students’ work and then create the plans to assist students.

This has been a great start to our school year. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Federal Way High School is truly a great school!

    Thank you,

    Dr. Matt Oberst
