We know that our young people will believe what we believe about them. This is why having and communicating the highest of expectations to them as learners is vital. Our words can elevate, empower, and encourage our young people so they achieve their dreams. We know that our young people are students, but using the word “scholars” conveys the idea they should come to school every day ready to learn at the highest level. In a recent convening of over 40 student leaders across the district, when asked “Why do we call you scholars?” they replied, “Because a student’s impossible is a scholar’s possible.”

So, to the 23,000 plus SCHOLARS in Federal Way Public Schools, we expect you do great things, today, tomorrow, and in the months and years to come!
