More than 85 rigorous academic research studies conducted over 30 years prove that kids do better when parents are involved. Grades are higher. Test scores improve. Attendance increases.
Schools are challenged to provide every child with the best education possible despite the limitations of tight budgets and government requirements. Schools are expected to do more with less. PTA helps bridge that gap.
Why should you join PTA? To be involved in your child’s education, know what is going on at school, get to know the administration and staff, have a say in what happens at your school, be a positive role model for your child, interact with other parents, help keep our students safe, enhance the academic environment at Lakota, and gain a better understanding of our school system.
Everyone is welcome to come. All meetings are from 7- 8 PM in the Lakota Commons.
Our next meeting is Wednesday, November 16th, 7pm in the cafeteria. The following are on the agenda for the evening:
- Jason Russell to speak about restorative practices/ new FWPS discipline strategy
- Lakota robotics team presentation
- Katie Young, president of FW Special Needs PTA, to speak about her program
