Elementary Summer Learning Academy 2017
Camelot, Enterprise, Nautilus and Olympic View
Elementary Summer Learning for students entering grades 1-5 will be offered by the district beginning June 28 and continuing through July 27, 2017, Monday through Thursday. There will be no school on July 3 and 4.
Summer scholars will be engaging in hands-on learning with Camp Invention, the science of gardening, robotics with Sphero, and reading independently at their IRLA level. Summer Learning Academy is free to all participating scholars and includes breakfast, lunch, and transportation.

Secondary Summer Learning Programs 2017
Three programs will be offered, Summer Learning Academy, Summer Bridge and High School Credit Retrieval. These programs will be offered from June 28 through July 27, 2017. There will be no school on July 3 and 4.
Summer Learning Academy
Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Summer Learning Academy will serve scholars entering 7th - 10th grades. The curriculum will consist of a four-course rotation, Digital Arts, Forensics, Food Science and Sphero. Summer Learning Academy will be held at Federal Way High School. Transportation will be provided to and from the hosting school.
9th Grade Summer Bridge
Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.
9th Grade summer bridge will serve 10 students each from Lakota, Sacajawea and Totem who will be entering Federal Way High School in the fall and 15 students from Kilo and Totem who will be attending Thomas Jefferson High School. Summer school content will consist of Independent Reading (IRLA), AVID, Mentorship, STEM component, HS 101 and Field Trips.
Summer Credit Retrieval
Session A: June 28 - July 13 and/or Session B: July 17 - July 27
Monday-Thursday 8-11 a.m. and/or Monday-Thursday 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Summer Credit Retrieval will be hosted at each of our four comprehensive high schools: Thomas Jefferson, Federal Way, Decatur, and Todd Beamer. The scholars offered this opportunity are identified by the school counselor or administrator following a failing grade in one or more of 14 courses. Scholars are offered an opportunity retake only the standards they failed. Courses are specific to Mathematics, English Language Arts, and History.
FRED (Fun, Read, Eat & Dream)
FRED is a big green school bus that will bring healthy meals and lots of fun activities to Federal Way students at six sites this summer, June 27 through July 28. There will be no activities on July 3 and 4. FRED is completely free! Our student-scholars love FRED, and so do their families, because FRED helps our scholars keep their academic skills growing well, too!
Free meals, learning and fitness activities for kids 18 and under will be available, June 27 through July 28. FRED will be visiting 6 sites that will be announced soon.
Puget Sound Skills Center Summer Sessions
Scholars from Federal Way Public Schools entering 9th through 12th grade next year can attend summer courses provided at the Puget Sound Skills Center. Please check the Puget Sound Skills Center website for summer course offerings.
