Thank you, voters for supporting our scholars with your approval of the phase 2 school construction bond in November 2017. Thanks to your support, we are rebuilding eight new schools and Memorial Field, as well as providing security updates at all schools.

Illahee Middle School
Project Overview
Illahee Middle School serves sixth through eighth grade students. The current building was constructed in 1971 and was ranked in the top 10 schools needing to be rebuilt by the Facilities Planning Committee.

Federal Way Public Schools held a groundbreaking celebration for the brand-new Illahee Middle School on Thursday, June 15, 2023, to mark the start of construction on its new and improved building.
Lake Grove Elementary
Project Overview
The old Lake Grove Elementary School building opened in 1965 and was ranked in the top 10 schools needing to be rebuilt by the Facilities Planning Committee in 2017. The new building provides capacity for additional preschool and elementary students, in support of Goal 1 of the Strategic Plan and the guiding principles of district facilities planning.

Mirror Lake Elementary
Project Overview
Mirror Lake Elementary School, which was built in 1956, was the oldest elementary school in Federal Way Public Schools, and was ranked in the top 10 schools to be rebuilt by the Facilities Planning Committee. The new building now provides capacity for additional preschool and elementary scholars in support of Goal 1 of the Strategic Plan and the guiding principles of district facilities planning.

Wildwood Elementary served approximately 600 PreK through fifth-grade scholars in a building that opened in 1967. It had one of the lowest building condition assessments and is ranked in the top 10 by the Facilities Planning Committee.

Star Lake Elementary
Project Overview
Star Lake Elementary School served PreK through fifth grade students in a 61-year old building. The original building was constructed in 1958 and was ranked in the top 10 schools needing to be rebuilt by the Facilities Planning Committee.
Star Lake Elementary was rebuilt alongside Evergreen Middle School, and the design includes some shared spaces, allowing for more opportunities for deliberate collaboration between these two schools.

Federal Way Public Schools invited scholars, family, and the community to a joint ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the completion of the brand-new Star Lake Elementary and Evergreen Middle School on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
Evergreen Middle School
Project overview
Evergreen Middle School (formerly Totem Middle School) serves sixth through eighth-grade students in a 55-year old building, with the lowest overall building condition rating in Federal Way Public Schools. The current building was constructed in 1963 and was ranked in the top 10 schools needing to be rebuilt by the Facilities Planning Committee.
Evergreen Middle School is being rebuilt alongside Star Lake Elementary, and the design currently being developed contains some shared spaces, allowing for more opportunities for deliberate collaboration these two schools.

Project Overview
Now the oldest high school in Federal Way Public Schools, the open design of the campus is challenging to secure. Additionally, the current elementary enrollment is greatest in the north end, and TJHS will need to be right-sized to meet this growing community as students move through the K-12 system.

Thank you to voters for approving the school construction bond in 2017 and making the Thomas Jefferson High School replacement project possible. Scholars have been enjoying their brand-new building since the fall of 2021 and we are excited to celebrate the opening of the new school!
Olympic View K-8
Project overview
The construction of Olympic View K-8 will provide capacity for additional scholars in support of Goal 1 of the Strategic Plan and the guiding principles of the district facilities planning. The old Olympic View building received a Building Condition Score of 75.19% and a Learning Environment Score of 32.
Olympic View K-8 is being rebuilt atop the previous Olympic View Elementary School.

We’re excited to invite FWPS families and community members to the ribbon cutting celebration for our brand-new Federal Way Memorial Field! The new athletic facility is a huge improvement from the outdated facility that served the community for over 50 years, and we are excited to show off the new and modernized “gem of Federal Way” during the event!

Project Overview
Memorial Stadium and its related facilities are original structures close to 50 years old. As a facility that supports all of our high schools and is used extensively by our community, a major renovation or rebuild is long overdue. In addition, the visitor locker rooms exist at the bottom of the old Central Kitchen building — a space currently being used to warehouse furniture.
