Dual Language Program

Sunnycrest Elementary (DL Grades: K-5, Spanish/English)

Sunnycrest Elementary launched our district’s first Dual Language program in 2010, and is our longest running Dual Language program.

Olympic View K-8 (DL Grades: K, Spanish/English & Korean/English)

Olympic View K-8 is the newest addition to our district’s Dual Language programs, this school is launching two new Kindergarten classes with Spanish/English and Korean/English Dual Language in the 2025-26 school year, and they plan to move Dual Language up to higher grade levels each following year.

Evergreen Middle (DL Grades: 6-8, Spanish/English)

Evergreen Middle school opened their Dual Language program in 2020, primarily serving students moving up from the Sunnycrest Dual Language Program.

Thomas Jefferson High (DL Grades: 9-12, Spanish/English)

Thomas Jefferson High launched Heritage Spanish classes in 2022, and serves as an extension of our Dual Language program to the high school level.

We currently offer two different partner languages within our Dual Language programs:

• Partner with Teachers: Maintain open and ongoing communication with your child’s teacher to discuss progress, celebrate successes, and address challenges.

How do I support my child if I don’t speak the other language?

1. Learn Together: Ask your child to teach you new words or phrases they have learned.
2. Connect with Resources: Explore online tools or library materials to support their learning.
3. Create Language Opportunities: Encourage books, shows, or music in the other language.
4. Encourage them During Challenges: Remind your child that it is ok to feel stuck sometimes and the hard work leads to success!
