Early Learning

Early Learning to Promote Success

In Federal Way Public Schools, Goal 3 of our strategic plan states that every student scholar will enter kindergarten ready to learn with the social-emotional skills that will propel them to meet or exceed grade-level standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics by the end of 3rd grade (Goal 1: The Early Years - Building the Foundation)

Our early learning programs provide young children with the foundation skills needed to transition into a school setting. Children get accustomed to practicing social skills through peer-to-peer connections, following directions, developing motor skills, expanding curiosity about the world around them, and so much more! Our programs also encourage independence, cultural competency, and a sense of pride by being part of a classroom among diverse students.

Each day follows a schedule, with time set for exploratory play, small group instruction, outdoor play, meals/snacks, and quiet time or a nap (for full-day programs).
