Scholar Representatives to the Board
In Federal Way Public Schools, incorporating student voice is central to informing the work of serving each of our 21,000+ student-scholars.
Students from the Scholar Advisory to the Superintendent team presented a recommendation and outlined the application and selection process for scholar representatives at board meetings.
Since 2017, each year an interview team including board members and students from the Scholar Advisory to the Superintendent team selects two finalists. These Scholar Representatives to the Board provide valuable input on school district operations — an area the superintendent as CEO is held responsible for.
This effort is in support of district Strategic Plan Goal 2: thriving, confident, responsible individuals.
