FWPS Celebrates National Arab American Heritage Month

FWPS Celebrates National Arab American Heritage Month
National Arab American Heritage Month 2026

This month, Federal Way Public Schools proudly celebrates the rich heritage, culture, and contributions of Arab and Arabic-speaking Americans.

According to the Arab American Institute, approximately 3.7 million Americans have Arab ancestry, with roots tracing back to 22 countries across the Middle East and North Africa, including Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Morocco, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and more.

Arab American cultures are a vibrant part of what makes FWPS the most diverse district in Washington—a distinction we honor and integrate into the heart of our schools and classrooms. By recognizing these contributions, we continue to build an inclusive learning environment that reflects and respects the identities of all our scholars.

Throughout April, we’re excited to showcase how our schools are celebrating Arab American Heritage Month! With assemblies and art projects, musical performances and more, students across FWPS are engaging in meaningful activities that honor Arab American culture and contributions. We look forward to sharing these moments with our entire district community! Please send photos to socialmedia@fwps.org so we can highlight the amazing celebrations happening in our schools.
