During the event, numerous critical characters in the story of FWPA addressed current and former staff, scholars, and community members. FWPS Superintendent Dr. Dani Pfeiffer offered enthusiasm for having FWPA be one of the excellent school experiences available to scholars, followed by the school’s first principal Dr. Charles Griffin who recounted key moments in the story of FWPA’s creation. Former FWPA Principal Kurt Lauer also gave remarks, praising the school’s philosophy and heart. He shared, “we never forget how people treated us, and the faith and love they had in us. Those are qualities that last a lifetime, and those are the qualities that have sustained FWPA the last 25 years. If [FWPA] can continue those qualities into the future, it’s going to last a lot longer.”
Marilyn, wife of FWPA’s cofounder Charlie Hoff, shared the school’s deep meaning to their family. The Hoff’s were a significant donor to FWPA and strongly support the school’s philosophy and mission for scholar excellence.
To close the program, former students and current teachers including, Mark Klumpenhower and Collin Genzlinger who is also a FWPA alum, offered meaningful words and personal stories extolling the impact FWPA has had on the scholars and graduates who have walked through the institution’s halls and praising the history and tradition of FWPA.
After the speeches and many thanks and heartfelt recollections ended, the crowd was invited to explore the hallway gallery to reminisce about the FWPA journey. People could help in creating a memory wall of past years or look through the many yearbooks, all while enjoying appetizers, cake, and punch catered by FWHS’s culinary program. There was also a selfie station to enjoy.
The FWPA Booster Club had a hand in coordinating the evening and commemorating the milestone. They also unveiled updated history panels with the story of FWPA from beginning to now.
