Operation Warm at Mark Twain and Mirror Lake Elementary
South King Fire & Rescue has been a pivotal partner in ensuring our scholars have coats to keep warm during winter and this year they doubled their efforts by adding a second school.
As part of Operation Warm’s drive-through style event, over 300 coats were purchased to be distributed to kindergarteners and first graders at Mark Twain Elementary School and Mirror Lake Elementary School. As an added bonus, 138 smoke alarms were provided to families at no cost.
We would like to recognize Lieutenant Brad Chaney from South King Fire & Rescue.
This effort was also made possible thanks to South King County Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2024, The Aid Fund, and The South King Firefighters Foundation who paid for the coats and over 60 event volunteers including 38 South King Fire and Rescue personnel and 22 school staff members.
We recognize that schools can’t do it alone and we appreciate your support to keep our scholars warm and ready to learn this school year. This helps them thrive and be confident, responsible individuals, part of our strategic plan goal 2 efforts.
Thank you!
