Congratulations to six of our Decatur High School scholars for being named Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) All-American!
This honor is designated to scholars that participated in the summer UCA Cheerleading Camp and selected for their exceptional Jump of Choice, All-American Cheer, and Camp Routine Dance. This distinction allows scholars to be invited to perform at special events across the country and world.
Congratulations to Decatur High School football coach, Matt Vaeena for being selected as the Seattle Seahawks Week 5 High School Coach of the Week!
Each week, the Seahawks and the Washington State Football Coaches Association select two high school football coaches to recognize and to receive a $500 donation to the school’s football program. All 20 coaches selected during the high school football season, including Matt, will be recognized at a Seahawks home game and one coach will be named Coach of the Year.
Congratulations to the Thomas Jefferson High SchoolRaider Artificial Intelligence Division (R.A.I.D.) robotics team for advancing all the way to the semi-finals in the 2023 Washington Girls’ Generation robotics competition.
The event is an inclusive off-season competition that included 33 teams from across the state to promote interest and participation in STEM and compete with one another.
We would like to recognize Thomas Jefferson High School scholars, Juan Juarez Ramos and Gabriel Cruz for their support in organizing and leading the Scholar-Led Educational Forum with Local Political Candidates event on October 30.
These students fulfilled several roles including: helping organize the event, asking candidates questions, giving introductions, closing speeches, and keeping time.
