Congratulations to the Federal Way High School Band who earned an overall rating of “Excellent” in the Valley Region Large Group Contest.
Members of the Federal Way High School Band recently participated in the Valley Region Solo/Ensemble and Large Group contests, competing against multiple schools in our region and bringing home top awards:
Scholar Samuel Kim placed as 1st alternate in the Valley Region Solo/Ensemble Contest.
Way to go, scholars!
Congratulations to the Decatur High School Jazz Band, who competed against 7 other schools and took home 2nd place in the 3A/4A division at the Bellevue High School Jazz Festival.

Scholars recently participated in the WIAA/WMEA State Solo and Ensemble Contest, which brings the finest of Washington’s high school music students together to hear each other in a competitive situation. We’re proud of our Decatur scholars who placed in multiple categories at this competitive event:
The Decatur Trombone Trio won 1st place in the small brass ensemble category.
Cassidy Stanhope won 1st place in the tuba category.
Carter Mitchell won 2nd place in the euphonium category.
Kayla Koo won 3rd place in the flute category.
Kysen Ellis won 3rd place in the trombone category.
