Congratulations to our top elementary and middle school scholars who participated in the Thomas Jefferson Speech and Debate Invitational for Grades 3–8!
This year, 80 students from six FWPS schools competed, with impressive results:
Nautilus K–8 was named Elementary School Champion, and Evelyn was recognized as Student of the Year.
Sacajawea Middle School earned the Middle School Champion title, with Claire as Middle School Student of the Year.
Many students earned top placements in categories like humorous interpretation, spar, impromptu, and informative speaking.
Congratulations to all scholars for your hard work, confidence, and excellence in communication!
Congratulations to all our FWPS mathletes for their outstanding performance at the 14th Annual Federal Way Math Contest for students in grades 4–8!
Over a hundred students from multiple districts across Washington participated in this exciting event.
Our scholars rose to the challenge and excelled in a variety of categories including Geometry, Mental Math, Algebra, and Gemini.
We’re proud to recognize our students who placed first through third in their individual categories. Way to go, scholars—your hard work and dedication truly paid off!
Congratulations to the Sequoyah Middle School Drumline for their outstanding performance at the Lincoln High School Invitational Drumline Festival in Tacoma!
Sequoyah earned 1st place in the Middle School division, standing out not just for their musical talent, but for their professionalism, teamwork, and sportsmanship. They impressed the audience and judges alike—coming just shy of winning the People’s Choice Award, finishing just behind Garfield High School of Seattle.
Our scholars represented Federal Way Public Schools with excellence, showing respect and support for fellow performers throughout the event.

Congratulations to the Thomas Jefferson High School Math Team for their exceptional performance at the 2025 Mu Alpha Theta State Math Contest!
Over 120 students competed across Washington state, and our TJ scholars stood out—placing first, second, and third in multiple individual categories.
Several students earned State Champion titles, with scholar, Nash even earning a perfect score in their division. TJHS also took home a team championship in the Jeopardy round!
This level of achievement reflects incredible dedication, critical thinking, and teamwork. We are proud of these scholars for representing TJHS with excellence.

Micah from Decatur High School, along with Edwin and Vivian from Todd Beamer High School, have been recognized nationally for their academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to community involvement.
This prestigious award is presented to graduating seniors who have maintained a minimum 3.2 GPA, completed coursework in business-related fields, and actively participated in DECA activities at local, state, and national levels.
