Congratulations to our outstanding robotics teams from Green Gables, Valhalla and Sherwood Forest elementary schools for their excellent performances at this year’s FIRST Lego League regional qualifiers! 

Scholars and staff present today, please come forward to be recognized.

Green Gables earned the Core Values Award for remarkable teamwork and spirit, while Valhalla received the Robot Design Award for top-notch programming and engineering.

We’re also thrilled that both Sherwood Forest and Green Gables advanced to the 2024–25 semifinals. Throughout the competition, teams demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, reflecting our strategic plan’s commitment to student engagement and success.

We are excited to celebrate Jay Cardwell, Girls Flag Football Coach at Todd Beamer High School, for being honored as the Coach of the Game during the Seahawks Girls Flag Takeover event! 

As part of this honor, the Seahawks awarded a $1,000 donation to support Todd Beamer High School’s flag football program, furthering opportunities for student-athletes to thrive.

The Seahawks Girls Flag Football initiative continues to inspire young athletes across the region by promoting accessibility, teamwork, and inclusivity in sports. Events like the Girls Flag Takeover provide an incredible platform to showcase talent and celebrate the growing popularity of flag football.

We are thrilled to announce that eight schools in Federal Way Public Schools have been honored by the Washington State Board of Education for their exceptional achievements in Closing Gaps, Growth, and Achievement from the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school year. This recognition underscores the unwavering dedication of our educators, students, and the entire community.

This prestigious acknowledgment is part of the Washington School Recognition Program, a collaborative initiative by the State Board of Education (SBE), the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC).
