We are proud to announce that Todd Beamer High School has earned the College Board’s AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for expanding young women’s access to AP Computer Science A!
Todd Beamer High School is one of only 237 schools nationwide recognized for its efforts to increase female representation in computer science during the 2023-24 school year. This achievement highlights the school’s commitment to providing equitable learning opportunities that prepare all students for success in high-demand STEM careers.
By earning this award, Todd Beamer High School is helping to address the gender gap in computer science, a field where women remain underrepresented despite the growing number of high-paying career opportunities.
We are proud to announce that Federal Way Public Schools has been recognized by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) with the Excellence in School Psychological Services (ESPS) "Promising" Recognition!
This distinction acknowledges FWPS’s commitment to providing high-quality psychological services that support student well-being, learning, and success. The "Promising" recognition reflects the district’s strong foundation in implementing a system-wide infrastructure that enables school psychologists to provide a comprehensive range of services.
We are thrilled to recognize the outstanding achievements of our high school scholars and middle school scholars who represented Federal Way Public Schools at the annual Washington State Thespian Competition. These talented scholars competed against some of the best student performers and technicians in the state and brought home an impressive 28 awards across seven categories!
Among their many accomplishments: Six scholars earned Superior Scores Awards, qualifying them for the National Thespian Festival in June, and 19 scholars earned Excellent Scores Awards, securing the title of State Honoree.
The International Thespian Excellence Awards, also known as the Thespys, recognize the highest level of achievement in school theatre, spanning performance, technical theatre, writing, and filmmaking.
These scholars have demonstrated incredible creativity, dedication, and passion for the arts. Their success is a testament to the power of theatre education and the unwavering support of their teachers and families.
We are proud to announce that the Federal Way Public Schools Nutrition Services team has been honored with the United Way of King County’s Closing the Hunger Gap Award for its commitment to ensuring every scholar has access to nutritious meals that support their health and academic success.
FWPS is the first and only school district to receive this recognition, highlighting our innovative efforts to combat student hunger. A key initiative is the Breakfast in the Classroom program, which ensures all students start their day ready to learn by integrating a healthy morning meal into their school day. This approach increases participation, reduces stigma, and helps students stay focused without the distraction of hunger.
Now more than ever, schools can’t do it alone. We extend our deepest gratitude to United Way of King County for their generous partnership and donations of dolly carts and bags to help transport meals to classrooms. Their support strengthens our efforts to remove barriers to food access for our scholars.
