Because Of You Award

The Because of You Award was created by students who serve on the Advisory to the Superintendent. This student-led recognition allows students in grades 3 through 12 to nominate any Federal Way Public Schools educator to be recognized by the Superintendent in partnership with the School Board.

The award honors educators who go above and beyond to support students and those who positively impact their school or community. Each month, nominations are reviewed by the Advisory to the Superintendent officers, who select the most impactful nominees to receive this recognition.

The Because of You Award reflects the voices of our students and highlights the powerful relationships that make a difference every day in Federal Way Public Schools.

Nominate a FWPS staff member for the Because of You Award here!

Monthly Award Recipients

Beginning January of every school year, Federal Way Public Schools will feature each Because of You Award recipient in a dedicated blog series.

Each post will highlight:

  • The staff member being recognized

  • The school or department they serve

  • Reflections and words shared directly from student nominations

We invite families, staff, and community members to explore these stories and help celebrate the educators and staff who go above and beyond for our students.
