About Us

We Are FWPS.

Federal Way Public Schools is a wonderfully diverse school district situated in south King County. We pride ourselves in our culture, rich in authentic relationships, culturally responsive teaching, and continuous data-informed improvement - all aligned with our district's Strategic Plan goals.

With nearly 3,000 staff supporting over 21,000 scholars who represent over 100 home languages, we are proud to equip scholars with the tools they need to embrace their bright futures. However, we know schools can't do it alone – it takes the support of many, and we are fortunate to have a strong community to support scholar success.

From our students, teachers, custodial staff, and school leadership, to our counselors, transportation team, volunteers, and community – everyone plays an important role in making us who we are.

In Federal Way Public Schools, we believe that EVERY scholar can learn at the highest level. Scholars deserve to see themselves in their schooling and have a strong sense of belonging through authentic connections with peers and the adults who teach them. What we do in the classroom every day has the greatest impact on student learning - we intentionally collaborate, use data to grow to provide systems of support, and meet the needs of each scholar.

Our scholars have limitless potential, and we are committed to ensuring each scholar has a voice, a dream, and a BRIGHT future.
