BRIGHT FUTURES FOR EVERY SCHOLAR

Here in Federal Way Public Schools, we believe when parents and caregivers send their precious children to our schools, they do so in trust that students will learn, grow, and succeed.

One of our greatest assets is the broad linguistic, cultural, and racial diversity of our school district. With over 100 languages spoken and scholars of every hue, our classrooms are the beneficiaries of broad points of view, rich dialogue, and diverse thinking.

We are guided by a strategic plan with five big, bold goals that journey from the early years and persist to graduation. Our staff is committed to the academic and social emotional success of our scholars. Evidence of this commitment are:

  • graduation rates that have increased year over year for the last eight years currently at 87% for the class of 2022,
  • regional recognition for college going rates and attainment, and
  • some of the highest numbers of scholars enrolled in advanced placement courses in our region.

We are continuing to position our young people to seize very bright futures.

What you will find in FWPS is an advancement of a college-going culture, increased partnerships with parents and community, expanded science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) access for all scholars, and so much more.

FWPS provides multiple STEM opportunities for each scholar from kindergarten through high school graduation. We currently have STEM/STEAM project-based learning lighthouse schools at TAF@Saghalie 6-12, Woodmont K–8, and Nautilus K–8 with the goal of creating a STEM Region.

We prepare students for life beyond high school. For example, our students are getting valuable job skills and hands on experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes offered at all high schools. Students can earn industry recognized certifications and participate in field trip and internships offered at Microsoft, Boeing, STEM companies, and more.

You’ll also find rich arts programs across our district in the areas of theater, band, choir, visual arts, and more! We have a Scholar Art in the City initiative that showcases the artistic talents and narrative writing of our FWPS elementary, middle, and high school scholars at our local businesses.

This community is stronger, healthier, and more vibrant because of its support of FWPS. Schools can’t do it alone, and we are solidly moving toward our goals with the deep commitment from our community.
