When is the first day of Kindergarten?
Kindergarten starts on Friday, September 9, 2022. Please review the bell times for your child's school here.

My child is on the waitlist for a choice school. When does the waitlist dissolve?
You should have been notified in April if you applied for the normal Choice Lottery. If you applied for choice during the Post-Lottery, notification of final placement determination will be emailed to all applicants between August 12 through the 10th day of the school year (approximately September 15).
Scholars not placed in their requested school must remain at their present resident school.

When and where can I find out my middle or high school child's courses?
Course schedules for middle and high school students are now available to view online. Visit ParentVUE or StudentVUE to see course schedules for the first semester of the school year.

Who can I speak with to have my child assessed for special education support?
Please reach out to Student Support Services, who will guide you through the process. They can be reached at 253-945-2086. For more information, visit www.fwps.org/SpecialEducation.

Who can I speak to about school meal accommodations?
Please reach out to Nutrition Services, which works closely with families who need or request a special diet. This includes special meals prepared for scholars with food allergies or other medical dietary restrictions.

How do I sign up as a volunteer at my child's school?
All persons wishing to volunteer at Federal Way Public Schools are required to complete a volunteer application and pass a background check prior to any volunteer activity. Volunteer opportunities are coordinated at the school level.
