  • We’ve got some great opportunities planned for learning this summer! We are continuing to add to “Summer Learning for All” by planning a variety of offerings for scholars, which include the following opportunities:

Summer Learning Packets by Grade Level

    Continuous Learning for Continuous Growth

    To provide rising 1-12 grade scholars an opportunity to prepare for the next grade level, FWPS provides summer learning packets full of weekly grade-level appropriate lessons for scholars to complete at home. Packets include lessons in reading, writing, math, science, and more! Your child will have the chance to practice upcoming academic skills by completing short academic exercises throughout the summer.

FRED Bus

    Fun. Read. Eat. Dream.

    FRED – it’s a big, green bus with a whole lot of fun! This year, FRED activities will include grab-and-go meals and take-home activity kits for scholars. All kids, birth to 18, are welcome!

    The FRED Bus will be available Monday - Thursday from June 27 - July 28, 2022 (except July 4) at the times and locations listed below.

    Offered Targeted Programs

    We are proud to offer the following targeted in-person summer programs to school-selected FWPS scholars. These summer programs offer select students an opportunity to continue learning during the summer in a fun way.

    K-12

    • Federal Way Boys & Girls Club
      Grades K-12
      FWPS can participate in week-long summer camps by age, including elementary, Teen Center, and Sports camps.

    PreK

    • ECEAP Summer Camp
      Grade PreK
      Learn, play, and explore! Young scholars will participate in curricula focused on kindergarten readiness with an emphasis on reading and math.

    Elementary

    • Camp Invention
      Grades K-4
      Through this STEM academic summer camp, scholars will build upon math and reading skills, explore gardening, and participate in Spehero's.

    • Music/STEAM Camp
      Grades K-4
      Scholars will be immersed in the world of music infused with art and STEAM lessons.

    • Academic Language Academy
      Grades K-4
      Designed to improve English language proficiency to help multilingual scholars access core academic content.

    Middle School

    • Camp Exploration
      Grades 5-7
      In addition to building math and reading skills, scholars can participate in program electives including intramural sports, arts, STEAM, leadership, debate, music, gardening, and more.

    • All Stars After-School Program
      Grades 5-7
      Scholars can participate in fun activities that may include coding, digital music, production, sports, photography, and more!

    High School

    • Camp Acceleration
      Grades 8-12
      Participate and engage in summer learning that is fun, engaging, and offers classes unique to individual interests, including culinary arts, STEAM, creative arts, intramural sports, dance, music, algebra and geometry boot camp, and more!

    • Industry Recognized Certifications
      Grades 9-12
      Scholars can get ahead by earning certifications now! Available certificates include Forklift, Flagger, CNA, Microsoft, Google, and others.

    • Credit Recovery
      Grades 11-12
      Stay on track for graduation with opportunities to recover missing credits through online courses.
