Why Attendance is Important in Helping Every Student Succeed

  • Why Attendance is Important in Helping Every Student Succeed

Obviously our Stay At Home Orders are creating greater challenges than ever before.

Still,  being attentive to Zoom Classrooms and Assignments is vital for continued skill building and community supports for the next level.

    • Achievement: Students who attend school regularly are more likely to pass reading and math assessments.
    • Opportunity: For older students, being in school every day gives them a chance to learn more about college and scholarship opportunities and to learn the important information to build a successful academic record.
    • Exposure to the English language: Regular school attendance can also help students who are learning English by giving them the opportunity to master the skills and information they need more quickly and accurately.
    • Being part of the school community:  Just by being present at school, your child is learning how to be a good citizen by participating in the school community, learning valuable social skills, and developing a broader world view.

    What Parents can do:

Follow schools guidelines and attendance policy.

    Check homework

Locate potential sources of anxiety that might be keeping student from attending Zoom meetings.

    Keep updated on school announcements.

Plan ahead.  Encourage your child to prepare for the next school day.

Promote good health:  Sleep, excise, and good nutrition are vital.

    Promote the importance of education.

A child’s daily routine will help a student realize their potential for all the above.
