I am looking forward to serving as the Principal of Thomas Jefferson High School! I will be bringing experience, congeniality, and a commitment to the lifelong success of students in Federal Way Public Schools.

As the former Principal of Sequoyah Middle School, I led Sequoyah to be a school with high expectations for both behavior and academic rigor and saw scholars grow in both reading and math over previous year’s achievements. In this role, I worked alongside staff to strengthen Tier 1 systems for all while bringing Tier 2/3 targeted systems to the school.

Prior to that, I served as Assistant Principal of Decatur High School, where I collaborated in developing the school improvement plan in alignment with the FWPS strategic plan and served as lead administrator for building safety and security, AVID, building testing, athletics and activities, graduation assurance, master schedule, and ELA, social studies, world language, and CTE departments. I also held the role of administrative intern at Auburn Mountainview High School in the Auburn School District, where I served as acting principal of Rainier Middle School, Evergreen Heights Elementary School, and Terminal Park Elementary School.

I earned a master’s in education from Pacific Lutheran University, and a bachelor’s in theatre from Western Washington University. I obtained my principal certification from Seattle Pacific University.

I am excited to join the Thomas Jefferson team! I look forward to joining a building with a familial climate and culture that is contented in being together. Principal Chacon has led with an equity lens, and I look forward to continuing that work.

Fall Re-Opening: Using guidance from OSPI and the Department of Health, we are planning for a safe return that prioritizes learning.  In accordance with Gov. Inslee and OSPI direction, we will be opening the year with full face-to-face instruction.  Please stay tuned for more information to come in the coming weeks.

Health and Safety and Re-Opening:  Our scholars’ health and safety are priority. As we prepare for our face-to-face fall re-opening, our district is hard at work developing health and safety protocols which include social distancing guidelines, arranging schedules that minimize high traffic contact, considering bus transportation and engaging in deep cleaning protocols to minimize the spread of germs. As part of ensuring a safe learning environment, all scholars and staff will be required to wear face masks. Please take the time this summer to both reinforce and practice the wearing of face masks. FWPS will continue to place health and safety as a priority as we look forward to welcoming our scholars back on September 1st. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
