Dear Sequoyah Families,
It is my pleasure and honor to serve as the Interim Principal of Sequoyah Middle School for the 2022-2023 school year. I am extremely proud and excited to continue to support our Sequoyah community. I look forward to the continued collaborative partnerships among staff, scholars and families.
I am entering my 19th year in education, all of which have been in middle school. I have taught English Language Arts and Reading Intervention, served as an instructional mentor, dean of students, and most recently a middle school assistant principal for three years right here at Sequoyah.
Like you, I am a parent as well. I have three children of my own, and one grandchild. Family is what centers our lives and I take this responsibility for caring for your scholar to heart. I understand that you trust that we support, care for and ensure your scholar’s safety while maintaining high instructional values and practices. Therefore, our partnership and two-way communication is so important. I will be seeking feedback regularly from families including establishing a family advisory to the principal.
Our Assistant Principal, Phackday Sok, and I are dedicated to continuing our students’ successes. We will strive to make sure that our scholars experience positive relationships with every teacher, rigorous learning in every class, and are seen, heard, valued, and celebrated for who they are. As a Sequoyah Phoenix, we continue to cultivate an environment where staff and scholars RISE by being Resilient, Inclusive, Supportive, and Empathetic.
Thank you for entrusting your child to the Sequoyah staff. Please feel free to call or email me if any questions or concerns arise. I welcome conversations and hope to begin building our partnerships. I look forward to partnering with you to help our scholars at Sequoyah have a successful year.
In Partnership,
Sara Jackson
Interim Principal
Sequoyah Middle School
