Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) held the second annual retirement celebration on May 30, 2018 to honor this year’s retirees. All retirees in attendance, collectively accounted for over 951 years of dedicated service to FWPS scholars, families and the community.
The certificated and classified retirees in attendance represent the dedicated people it takes to ensure a bright future for every scholar.Retirees enjoyed dinner and musical performances by scholars Michela Walker, Isaiah Welker, Nelson Ocana and Minh Tran as well as the Decatur High School Jazz Trio, and a follow-up performance by preschool scholars.
During welcome remarks, Dr. Tammy Campbell, FWPS superintendent said, “No matter the role each of us have, as educators and support staff we all hold the power to change the lives of every scholar. Thank you for helping making a difference in our scholars’ lives.“One fourth-grade scholar shared the difference a staff member made in her life when she shared, "Mrs. Wolfe is so nice, and she helps me be a better reader."Other student stories illustrated the effective and caring staff we have in Federal Way Public Schools. One student said, “You helped me tremendously master the art of believing in myself. If it wasn’t for you, then I would not know where I would be right now.”
