Dear Kilo Cougar Families,
I am so excited to serve as your new Principal of Kilo Middle School. I look forward to meeting and welcoming you all to the 2022-23 school year! This will be my 22nd year in education, as I have been working with scholars in both the middle and high school settings. Over the course of my career, I have been focused on providing supports and opportunities individuals need to shape and accomplish their goals. I am excited to work with our Cougar community filled with dedicated, caring, supportive families and staff who are committed to building excitement and perseverance while fostering a climate of learners and leaders who are equity-focused.
As a parent of four children and a grandmother of one, I understand the trust you place in us to ensure your child is supported, heard, safe, and cared for, all while maintaining high instructional values and practices. This is achieved through shared partnerships, as well as ensuring two-way communication. We are committed to pushing our learning and challenging our instructional practices as we continue to partner with scholars, families, staff, and the community to ensure all voices are heard. I am committed to building a strong Cougar community, in which all scholars are supported. We will continue to build on individual scholar strengths, interests, and needs, providing high levels of support to ensure they are achieving their full potential and are prepared to be successful as they move forward with their academic career.
My Assistant Principal Nikki Bleich and I have worked together for the last three years. We are dedicated to developing and leading our learning community in support of Goal 2-Whole Child, and Goal 4: Mastery of All Subjects. Everything we do is in support of the social-emotional and academic needs of All Scholars, aligning our work with the Federal Way Public Schools Strategic Plan. Through the continued focus on teaching 21st-century skills, utilizing PBIS and Restorative Practices, and ensuring rigorous academic learning and data-based decision-making, our commitment to our families is that all scholars will receive the highest quality of education, which is nothing less than the education they deserve.
I will begin to kick off the 2022-23 school year towards the end of August with a couple of meet and greets with the Principal, as well as Cougar Days as we begin to transition out of summer and back into school. I will be sending out communication of upcoming dates to families.
Thank you for trusting us with your scholar(s) and your partnership as we prepare for a new transition of leadership. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions. I look forward to our conversations as we begin building this community relationship in support of our 6th- 8th grade Cougar Family!
Charleen Prichard, Principal
