Athletics
-
Federal Way Public Schools believes activities and athletics are important choices to be offered in a comprehensive and challenging educational experience for all scholars. The goals of the activities and athletic program are to teach sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for fellow competitors, officials, opposing team members, and opposing team fans. Policy 2151 and Procedure 2151P
COVID-19: As we transition into full athletic activities for the 2021- 2022 school year, FWPS will follow the recommendations from the Washington State Department of Health (DOH). We will continue to monitor and provide updates when they become available.
2021 – 2022 middle school and high school schedules are posted on the FWPS Athletics page. link: https://www.fwps.org/site/default.aspx?PageID=566

Spectator Guidelines
-
The health and safety of our scholars and staff remains the top priority of Federal Way Public Schools. The current mitigation measures have supported keeping our schools open for in person instruction and has supported our abilities to continue offering athletics. As an added layer of precaution, we are taking additional safety measures during the remainder of this winter’s sports regular season.
Much like other school districts in King County, Federal Way Public Schools will be limiting spectator attendance in a continued effort to reduce potential transmission of COVID-19 while in indoor settings. Temporarily, the following measures will be in place to support the ability to finish the winter season strong. These measures will be in effect starting Tuesday, January 18, 2022. We will monitor impact and re-evaluate at the end of the winter season.
Spectators
- Spectators will be limited to families and scholars of the host school only
- Federal Way Public Schools athletes playing home games will get up to four (4) guest tickets
- There will be no spectators allowed to attend from the visiting school
- Spectators should be seated in “family units” and those small groups will be spaced at least six feet apart or in designated sections
Masks
- Masking is required for all spectators regardless of vaccination status while attending indoor K-12 sporting activities.
Pep Band
- Pep Band will not perform for the remainder of the winter season at any sporting activity.
