Who Qualifies?

  • Federal Way Open Doors is a specialized program designed to meet the needs of youth who are disengaged from school or a year or more behind in credits AND pending a school referral. (Contact Us for more information)

    Eligibility is determined by the following: 

    1. A student’s eligibility for any given school year is determined by the age of the student on September 1 of the school year.

      Students must be under age 21 but at least age 16 on September 1 in order to be eligible for services at any point in the school year.

      Examples: 
      A student turning 16 on August 31 will be eligible for reengagement programming during the school year because the student will be 16 on September 1.

      A student turning 16 on September 2,  will not be eligible for reengagement programming during the school year because the student was only 15 on September 1.

      A student turning 21 on September 2 will be eligible for reengagement programming for the school year because the student was still 20 on September 1.

      A student turning 21 on August 31 will not be eligible for programming for the  school year because the student was 21 on September 1.

      OR a year or more behind in credits AND experiencing barriers to attending school and accessing a traditional school environment
