March 21, 2017

  • With 19 school buildings and a central memorial stadium that are all 40 years old or older, student enrollment growth and overcrowding, instructional space is now a critical issue at many of our schools.

The Facilities Planning Committee members are considering a number of factors referred to as guiding principles to identify schools and facilities for a recommended bond package to expand, modernize, and/or rebuild facilities.

At the March 21 Facilities Planning Committee meeting, members will finalize a preliminary recommendation including a slate of projects balancing the need for instructional programs and classroom space with the need to upgrade aging buildings. This preliminary recommendation will be available for the public to review and comment on at the upcoming community forums (see forum information to the right). The committee will review this feedback when drafting the final recommendation for Superintendent Dr. Tammy Campbell’s consideration, and ultimately the school board for final approval.
