2012 Capital Levy
Framing our Future: The 2012 Capital Levy
We’re not just building schools, we’re building community. The capital levy which passed November 6, 2012, with over 60% of the vote, will allow the district to do $110 million worth of facility improvements while collecting just $60 million from local voters. The levy has three primary goals: rebuilding Federal Way High School; improving playgrounds at 19 elementary schools; and improving security cameras district-wide.
Federal Way High School Grand Opening - Dec. 5, 2018
On Dec. 5, Federal Way Public Schools hosted a celebration to mark the completion of the multi-phase Federal Way High School construction project. Attendees toured the facilities, enjoyed performances by scholars in the new, state of the art theater, and celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Thank you to those who attended and to our community for helping build our scholars' futures.
FWHS October 2016 Opening
Students moved into Federal Way High School the third week of October 17, 2016.
After students moved into the new building, portions of the remaining campus, including the 1938 structure, will be demolished. The existing gymnasium and cafeteria will remain in use until the second phase is completed. Construction crews are tasked with revamping the athletic field, and turning the northern half of the building into gymnasiums, food services facilities and a new theater. The project is slated to be fully completed in 2018.
We will continue to engage our community throughout the multiple phases of this project.
