* Class of 2022 Scholars Community Service Graduation Requirement has been prorated to 15 hours.

  • Important Update for the Class of 2022:

Class of 2022 Seniors must complete the prorated 15 hours of documented community service hours to meet the graduation requirement.

Scholars for the Class of 2021 and beyond must earn 24 hours of community service as one of their graduation requirements.  The guide below outlines all of the information that is needed in order to fulfill this requirement.

STEP 1: First, think about how you can “be the change you want to see in the world,” how you can positively impact your community, and what you can gain from this experience. Then, select a community service opportunity from the pre-approved FWPS Community Service/Volunteer Opportunities guide, Virtual Community Service Opportunity list, or create your own community service activity. These lists can be found at www.fwps.org/communityservice

STEP 2: If you are creating your own community service activity, think about the communities you are a part of, like your family, your school, or your neighborhood. How can you contribute to making these spaces better? Connect with your teachers, counselor, or college and career specialist if you need support in creating an activity.

STEP 3: Complete your community service hours/project. Feel free to take photos or notes to document your experience.

STEP 4: Log community service hours in MaiaLearning. A step-by-step video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-EoAZobpNM&t=63s&ab_channel=FWPSCollege%2CCareerReadinessandCTE
