In the 2017-18 school year, TAF Academy will move to Saghalie Middle School creating TAF@Saghalie. This new school will be the center of a district effort to create a STEM Region by improving the academic program and outcomes of Saghalie Middle School and over time the academic program and outcomes of elementary schools that fully or partially feed into Saghalie: Olympic View, Brigadoon, and Green Gables elementary schools.
2008 - TAF Academy Opens
Federal Way Public Schools and TAF worked together to open TAF Academy, a sixth through 12th grade neighborhood choice STEM school, as the only school in Washington state that is co-managed by a school district and a nonprofit.
2008-2017 - TAF Academy Develops Into an Award Winning School
Since it's opening, TAF Academy has achieved 95 percent on-time graduation, 100 percent college acceptance, and 91 percent college entrance. In addition, for five years in a row, TAF Academy received the school of distinction award for being in the top 5 percent of schools in Washington state to show scholar growth in math and reading.
September 2016-2017 - Move TAF Academy to Saghalie
- Educate the Saghalie community of students, staff, teachers, and families on the STEM by TAF academic model
- Provide professional development for Saghalie teachers on the STEM by TAF academic model
- Provide full-time instructional coaching and part-time educational technology and college readiness support.
- Join both school communities to create TAF@Saghalie school culture and norms
- Upgrade facilities to meet the needs of implementing a 21st century academic environment
September 2018-2021 - Enhance Project-Based STEM Opportunities at Olympic View, Brigadoon, and Green Gables elementary schools
- Provide professional development for teachers on the STEM by TAF academic model
- Provide fulltime instructional coaching and part time educational technology and college readiness support
- Upgrade facilities to meet the needs of implementing a 21st century academic environment
