Principal's Message

    Greetings Star Lake Families,

It’s very quiet here at Star Lake as I am writing this letter; it’s the last day of Spring break and while I had a wonderful time earlier in the week visiting my daughter in Washington DC, I am excited to see all of our Eagles on Monday!

I would like to thank our parents, staff, and students for helping us to connect with 100% of our families for student-led conferences! We so enjoyed talking with families and sharing our students’ progress and growth!

As I’m sure you all saw in the letter that went home before spring break, we have a few changes to our construction schedule. Star Lake students will remain at Star Lake for the 19-20 and 20-21 school year while the new school is being built, and will move OFF campus for the 21-22 school year so that the old Star Lake building can be demolished and new parking lot and playground can be constructed. Details are included in the letter I sent home, and there will be many updates and communications regarding the process for moving in the 21-22 school year as we get closer.  Please watch for notices of community and parent meetings and join us. As always, feel free to call or email with questions too!

Please take a look at the following information in this newsletter…we have a busy month ahead!

Smarter Balanced state testing for 3rd -5th graders will occur from May 7 to May 31. Teachers will be sending home a specific testing schedule for their class. Please avoid scheduling appointments on your child’s testing days and remind them to get lots of rest.  ELA testing normal runs for about 5 days, and math for about 3 for each grade level.  Students test in the morning from about 9:00-12:00 with breaks.

Please consider collecting pledges and donations for our spring Fun Run PTA fundraiser.  Packets went home on 4/3 and the run is on 5/1.

Star Lake will be recognizing students and staff on April 30th at the School Board recognition night.  Please see the article in this newsletter listing names. We are proud of our Eagles!

Here’s to a beautiful and productive spring!

    Best Regards,

    Kris Rennie
