College Readiness & Career Exploration
Our 8th graders take the ReadiStep assessment at the beginning of the school year. This assessment tests them on the skills they need to be on track for college and careers. Later this year when the students receive their assessment results, we will be going into classes and working on career exploration with the 8th graders through interest surveys and lesson plans.
At the middle school level, it’s a good time to talk with your children about high school and their plans for the future. Encourage them to research careers and colleges they might be interested in.
The sites below are great resources for your child to use when exploring different careers. On these sites, students can find basic information about job tasks, knowledge, skills, & abilities used, required education, wages, and related occupations.
