Dear Mark Twain Students, Families and Community,
Hello, and welcome to Mark Twain Elementary, Home of the Bullfrogs! I am honored to serve as the proud principal of a school with such wonderful history and traditions. I look forward to partnering with our staff, families, and school community for a great 2022-23 school year filled with learning, partnerships, and wonderful memories!
At Mark Twain, we are focused on Goal 1: The Early Years and Goal 2: The Whole Child of the Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) Strategic Plan, which guides the work of our district to ensure that each and every child has a dream, a voice, and a bright future. In support of Goal 1: The Early Years, our staff is committed to research-based, equitable, and culturally responsive early learning for each child, so all of our scholars reach their fullest potential. To support Goal 2: The Whole Child, we have implemented the Positive Intervention and Supports (PBIS) framework to ensure a safe, respectful, responsible school environment that supports all our families, children, staff, and community members.
I want to reassure you that safety and health are vital priorities here in FWPS, and Mark Twain will follow all evidence-based practices for a safe and healthy campus.
Do not hesitate to reach out to me or our Mark Twain team if you have any questions or comments. We always value hearing from our families and community.
In partnership,
Tess Johnson, Principal
