Principal's Message

  • Jake Booker Dear Lake Grove families,

As your proud Leopard Principal, I am so happy to welcome you to a brand-new school year in a brand new building.  Mrs. Perry your Assistant Principal and I have been working with our staff all summer to make sure we are ready to launch an amazing school year.  We are so excited to start this school year in person and are eager to meet with all of you in the coming weeks.  We will have a series of COVID-19 mitigated opportunities to connect in the near future.  Look for invitations to our drive through ice cream social, a parent Zoom session and upcoming Coffee with the Principal sessions.

As I think back on the last school year I am so thankful for the persistence and flexibilty of our scholars, families, and staff as we worked together to ensure we met the needs of our community.  During this last school year we walked side by side as we faced challenges adn found scucess in many areas.  As we move forward this year we are going to conintue to focus our efforts on our FWPS Strategic Plan Goal 2- Whole Child and Goal 4- Mastery of All Subjects.  We are working in partnership with our District Office to expand supports such as academic tutoring, access to mental health services, discounted child care through Right At School, technology support and more as part of our systems of support.

Fall Re-Opening: Using guidance from OSPI and the Department of Health, we are planning for a safe return that prioritizes learning.  In accordance with Gov. Inslee and OSPI direction, we will be opening the year with full face to face instruction.  Please stay tuned for more information to come in the coming weeks.

Health and Safety and Re-Opening:  Our scholars’ health and safety are priority. As we prepare for our face to face fall re-opening, our district is hard at work developing health and safety protocols which include social distancing guidelines, arranging schedules that minimize high traffic contact, considering bus transportation and engaging in deep cleaning protocols to minimize the spread of germs. As part of ensuring a safe learning environment, all scholars and staff will be required to wear face masks. Please take the time this summer to both reinforce and practice the wearing of face masks.  FWPS will continue to place health and safety as a priority as we look forward to welcoming our scholars back on September 1st.

Mrs. Perry and I are very excited to welcome everyone back as we launch the school year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions.

    Yours in Service,
    Jake Booker
