Welcome back Camelot Knights. I am beyond excited for the 2018-2019 school year. Our theme at Camelot this year is Anything Can Be. We are excited to live out this theme by creating a fun and academically successful year for all of our scholars. Our goals this year remain on The Early Years and Whole Child. We will be working hard to provide rigorous learning tasks for our scholars. We are promoting ownership of learning and are devoted to creating authentic learning opportunities based on our scholar’s needs. Like last year, we are also focusing on providing strong instruction around vocabulary. We know that this is a skill that can support kids in all areas of school. With goal 2: Whole Child, we are working as a school to provide an environment that has clear and consistent expectations through our focus on PBIS. All scholars will have the opportunity to learn about appropriate behaviors and be able to practice and see appropriate behavior modelled by our staff. We are also pushing ourselves to more actively communicate with families this year. We want to be able to celebrate successes, share concerns, and partner in the work of supporting your scholars. Be ready for positive phone calls home, Weekly Camelot Callouts, email updates, Thursday folders, and more.
Lastly, I am extremely excited to share that we will be a pilot site for Standards Based Grading and Reporting (SBGR). Our focus will be on creating more clear communication around student progress so that our families know exactly how students are performing. Camelot and other Pilot Sites will be hosting family forums to share the SBGR updates and partner with families in the work. You can help by attending after school events and by actively looking at ParentVue to monitor student progress. One thing to expect would be around the report card. You will see some noticeable changes this year. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks!
