Principal's Message
-
Hello Camelot Knights, families and community,
My name is Andre Koch, and I am the proud Principal of Camelot Elementary. I am deeply honored to serve and lead the Camelot school community to continued success and achievement. Our theme for the 2019-20 school year is Be Brave. This theme fits greatly into the work that we are doing throughout Federal Way Public Schools.
This year we are launching aspirational goals tied to our FWPS Strategic Plan. Our first aspirational goal will be by 2022; 80% of 3rd-grade scholars will be meeting or exceeding the grade-level standard in ELA. Next, by 2022, 100% of Camelot scholars will be participating in at least 95% of classroom instructional time as measured by attendance. Lastly, at Camelot by 2022, we will end disproportionality in discipline amongst different subgroups.
To reach these goals, we truly must Be Brave and have a courageous commitment to academic improvement (Goal 4 Content Area Competence) and social-emotional learning (Goal 2 Whole Child). Camelot staff are busy this summer setting up their classrooms, continuing our professional learning, and taking bold steps to Be Brave in our commitment to the success of each and every Camelot Knight. We are also continuing our push for developing strong family partnerships. You will continue to hear from us as partners in your scholar's education, sharing successes, challenges, and always putting the scholar first in our work ahead.
Before you know it, the new year will be upon us. Many reflect on the past year and the successes and challenges that were faced. Our teachers have been busy teaching and learning. Our teachers engaged in "labs" where we learn about best practice, plan, and then teach and get feedback from our teaching peers about the observed lesson. We did these in ELA, Math, and classroom management. We will also be reflecting on data from the Panorama student, staff and parent survey. Feedback is one of the most important levers for change. We are excited about the new year and hope that you enjoy time with your families during this holiday season.
Best regards,
Andre Koch,
